About Me

Welcome to WorthReviewing. My name is Sam Worth, and here’s a little bit about me.

The day I turned 17 was the one day I had been waiting for ever since I was young – the day I could start learning to drive. Boy oh boy, I was ready. A few months down the line, I passed my test, and it was the best day of my life, having that feeling of being able to drive. For some people, getting in a car and driving can be a chore, something they hate, something they only do to get from A to B.

For me, driving is a passion. I love it. The pleasure of cruising down the motorway, the thrill of chucking it down a gear when you’re tackling some bendy country roads, the feeling from cranking up the volume when an absolute banger is playing on the radio, the joy of wheel spinning off at a set of traffic lights. Why? Well, why not? But most importantly, how it makes me feel as a driver, the thought of being behind the wheel and I want to express that feeling and share it with everyone.

I didn’t go straight from passing my test to building a YouTube channel a few weeks later, oh no no no. Before I started reviewing cars, my main hobby was photography (automotive photography of course). I’d go to a variety of car shows, events, meets and festivals, and take pictures of a range of vehicles, and share them with my followers, at the same time becoming a more accomplished photographer. So, I enjoyed driving cars and I loved taking pictures of them too, which got me thinking…What if I were to put the two together?

In 2018, I started filming my first review, although I didn’t take it completely seriously if I’m honest. After a few weekends of hooning about in a field, driving along some roads and getting some shots around the car, the filming was finished, and so the editing started. After many hours, my first review was completed.

In October that year, I released my first ever review, featuring the Ford Fiesta MK8 Titanium. Looking back at it now, the review wasn’t great, but it wasn’t going to be – it was my first ever review and I was so proud of it. The main thing is that I enjoyed creating the review, and that’s why I started up WorthReviewing.

At the time I started reviewing cars I was an Apprentice Vehicle Technician at a Jaguar Land Rover dealership, fixing, repairing, and servicing JLR cars. After I completed the apprenticeship, I didn’t feel it was the right career for me. I decided to start looking for a new job, but before I left, I filmed around a Range Rover Sport SVR. But I couldn’t drive it, so I ended up making a walkaround and exhaust noise video instead, rather than a review.

After a few hours of editing, the video went live on my channel, too. As the months went by, the number of views went up on it, which I never expected. But it encouraged me to make more car reviews.

With every car I’ve reviewed since, my filming footage has improved massively, and I can even say my editing skills are good, not great, but I’m certainly getting there.

Of course, there were obviously moments that didn’t go according to plan. Sometimes I’d say the wrong thing, I’d forget what I was wobbling on about, background noises would interfere in the recording and just, in general, I’d look back on the filming and realised it wasn’t up to scratch.

Funnily enough, watching some of the footage can be a giggle, so there’s a possibility it’ll make other people chuckle as well. I used to upload a separate ‘Out-Takes’ video after each review, but as I got more confident around the camera, less mistakes were made. That’s not to say everything goes spot on, as there are still errors made now and again. So instead, I put all the out-take clips together to upload at the end of each year.

I read all the comments on my YouTube reviews, some of which I really appreciate. It’s so satisfying to see I’m helping people out, giving my opinion on a car they’re possibly looking at buying.

Expectedly, some comments can be negative, but I appreciate them because it can help me improve. If I see a ton of ‘likes’ on a certain negative comment, I try not to take it to heart, but use it as constructive criticism.

With every car I review, I add in my humour to make the reviews feel more personal and entertaining, rather than just ‘a review’. At the same time, I’m honest with what I say and try to improve the quality of each review.

I love reviewing cars, but it’s not just the driving I love, I also enjoy researching, pre-test driving, photographing, filming, editing, narrating, sharing, and cleaning. I do it all and I enjoy every second of it…unless it starts to rain just after I’ve finished cleaning the car.

I hope you all enjoy watching the reviews I produce.

Thank You
