Essex-based tuner packs more power into the Focus ST
Here is an upgrade for the Ford Focus ST MK4 called the m330 from Essex-based tuner, mountune. Costing £599 for an extra 49bhp and 70lb-ft, giving it a total of 324bhp and 380lb-ft.
There are two different kits for this upgrade, first up is the ‘mtune smartflash m330’ and the other one is the ‘mtune smartflash m330 lite’ which costs £569. In the lite version you’ll get a mountune case, a mountune badge and an OBD adapter. As you’d guess, the other kit is the same, but it comes with a freer-flowing panel air filter as well, for an extra £30.
The OBD adapter connects to your phone via an app, which is available on Android and Apple phones. In the app, you can calibration updates, check for fault codes and it also has a handy vin and calibration ID reader.
There are three different driving modes to choose from: Stock, Anti-Theft and Performance. What changes is performance mode? You’ll get a better 0-62 time, from 5.7 to 5.2 seconds. Anything else? Yup, you’ll get no-lift shifts, a more aggressive launch control as you’d expect and an enhanced audible exhaust output in Sport and Track mode. Finally, a custom Track mode (recalibrated wet mode for track settings minus pops and bangs).
If the m330 upgrade sounds a tad too expensive for you, Dreamscience are offering the same power increase for £125 less. Unfortunately, both upgrades from mountune and Dreamscience avoid your vehicles warranty, pity.
