This Is Fords New Fiesta ST Edition

The ST Edition is the same as the Performance Edition ST, minus the paintwork of course. So, if you’re heavily into hot hatches, but you don’t want to stand out as much as you would in the Performance Edition Fiesta ST, this might be the car for you.

Before you get excited, this doesn’t get any more performance than a standard ST – like the older-generation ST200 got from the ST180. The ST Edition uses the same engine and gearbox from a normal ST, being a six-speed manual gearbox with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 197bhp and 214lb-ft. Giving the hot hatch a 0-62mph time in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 143mph.

Just like the Performance Edition ST, it gets the same two-way manually adjustable coilover suspension, which reduces the ride height by 15mm at the front and 10mm at the rear, with twelve bump and sixteen rebound settings. As well as this, it also gets the Performance Pack which includes a Quaife limited-slip differential, launch control and a shift indicator.

On the outside, the most noticeable difference is the paintwork. It’s called Azura Blue, and it means Sky Blue – and you can see why they’ve given it that name. It’s gorgeous, isn’t it? The ST Edition also gets full LED headlights, ST puddle lights, a black roof, spoiler, mirror covers, grille, bumper inserts, diffuser, and an outlined ST badge. The hot hatch will only be available as a three-door body style and will sit on 18-inch flow-formed alloy wheels finished in gloss black, which take 8kg off the kerb weight.

The interior gets subtle features like blue stitching on the ST Recaro bucket seats and a few other trims, exposed carbon fibre effect trims, a red keyless start button and a leather gear-knob. It also has the same flat-bottomed steering wheel as the Focus ST, with the driving mode and Sport mode button inserted onto the controls – opposed to on the centre console on the normal ST.

Only 500 units will be built, with 300 allocated to the UK. You can order one now, priced at £27,075. That’s £580 more than the Performance Edition ST, and £2,175 more than a standard ST-3. So, what’s it gonna be? A special edition ST or a standard ST with money left over to burn fuel and rubber. Or even better, a used Focus RS. Choices, eh?
