Available for the Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque
It’s 2020. We have many three-cylinder engines found in a range of cars, from a Fiesta ST to a Koenigsegg Gemera. Now, Land Rover has joined the gang. The all-new ‘P300e’ is combined of a new 197bhp turbocharged three-cylinder 1.5-litre Ingenium petrol engine, which is fitted next to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The other 107bhp comes from an electric motor, which is attached to a Samsung-sourced 15kWh battery pack which delivers power to the rear axle, giving a final output of 304bhp. The Evoque will get 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds while the Discovery Sport achieves it in a slightly slower 6.6 seconds.
The battery pack is under the rear seats and in just under an hour and a half you’ll get 80% charge from it being completely empty – using a 7kW domestic wall box. If you use a public charging point, which supplies at least 32kW, you can get the same amount of charge in 30 minutes. Once they’re fully charged you can achieve 38 electric-only miles in the Discovery Sport and 41 miles electric-only miles from the Evoque.
Both are available to order now, starting at £43,850 for the Evoque and £45,370 for the Discovery Sport.
