Honda bring out some limited-edition Civic Type-R's, which have already sold out
Here is the facelift Honda Civic Type-R Limited Edition. It has already sold all 20 units which were allocated to the UK, priced at £39,995. Another 80 units will be sold globally. All orders in the UK were placed before any customers had even seen the car or received any pricing information, jeez.
The Limited Edition arrives in two variations. One is a less exclusive, Sport-Line variant, which is the Boost Blue and Grey painted Type-R coming with Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tyres. The other is the Sunlight Yellow Type-R, which is a more track-focused variant, coming with Michelin Cup 2 tyres, yeah boy!
Both the air conditioning and the infotainment system has been removed. Not only that, but the sound deadening from the roof lining, read hatch, front bumper and dashboard has been removed too. With the help of the BBS wheels, saving 2.5kg per corner slices off 47kg of the Type-R’s total kerb weight.
Honda has also chucked in a sound augmentation system which pipes engine noise into the cabin through the speakers. So, for a Limited-Edition Type-R, it looks and sounds all fancy, but does it go any faster? Well…Unfortunately not. It’s gets the same unit found under the bonnet from the pre-facelift Type-R, which is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 316bhp and 295lb-ft, sending all power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
The facelift Civic Type-R will come with updated dampers, stiffer bushings for the rear subframe, tweaked front suspension geometry and fresh brake pads and two-piece brake discs, too.
