It’s taken the Californian company 17 years to reach this milestone. Tesla was founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning in 2003. Then in 2004, Elon Musk joined, which was two years before the first-generation Roadster was revealed and four years before it went on sale.
The Model S went into production in 2012, followed by the Model X in 2015 and the Model 3 in 2017, which has won the ‘UK Car of the Year 2020’ award. Tesla started building the Model Y this year. The Model Y is a taller, more spacious version of the Model 3 and will be coming to the states shortly. A second-generation Roadster and the Cybertruck should both be arriving in the close future.
Only last year Tesla started building cars at its third Gigafactory which is in China, and Tesla has confirmed a fourth one will be built just outside of Berlin. Hats off to the company.
