VW Touareg R Gets 456bhp

Here is the 456bhp hybrid VW Touareg R SUV. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol engine, with a 14.1kWh lithium-ion battery chucked in the boot which powers an electric motor giving it an extra 130bhp. 0-62 in 5.0seconds, with 664lb-ft which is limited to a top speed of 155mph and has 30miles of electric-only range.

There’s a display that tells you how much battery charge is left. A 12-inch screen for the instrument cluster and a larger 15-inch touch screen for the centre infotainment system. Driving modes include Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Off-Road and Snow. Who’s ever gonna use Eco mode? Boring.

You also get Trailer Assist. Press the Park Assist button once you’ve found your space, and you’ll get guidance on the steering angle to reverse your trailer in correctly. Prices will be unveiled next week at the Geneva Motor Show.
